Unlike Microsoft 365, Office 2021 is not a subscription, which means it doesn't cover future feature upgrades and you'll have to buy again to get new features, as per Microsoft. Office 2021 users will get security updates though. Most configurations of the pack are available for both PCs and Macs, but can only be installed once on one Mac or PC.
LibreOffice (also known as OpenOffice) is another suite of text-editing apps available for free to anyone. Its Microsoft Word alternative is called LibreOffice Writer, which has many desktop publishing compatibilities of its paid competitor and is also completely compatible with it.

Collabio Spaces is a text editor with unique ad-hoc collaboration features. This app goes beyond creating and formatting text (although you can do it too, obviously). Collabio turns your device into a server and transmits your document to other people. All you have to do is share a password with them and start co-editing in real time, without uploading your document to a cloud.
Focused is another app for writing purists that does everything to get you concentrated on the words that flow from your keyboard. The app supports beautiful typography, various themes suitable for different times of day as well as ambient soundtracks to make it so you fully immerse in your environment.
Microsoft Word is the de facto standard for most schools and business documents. Therefore, having Microsoft Word for Mac users will be unavoidable for creating and editing complex files, especially for students. Also, if you work in a company that uses Word as its word processing platform, you need Microsoft Word on your Mac.
Additionally, using alternative tools for word processing relies heavily on an internet or Wi-Fi connection. If you lose web access, you won't access your documents or load the services in your browser. Using Word makes it easier since it doesn't need an internet connection, and there is a companion iOS Word App that aids in working on your documents from anywhere.
As seen, Microsoft Word for Mac is an important word processor. It offers many services that other apps cannot complement. Microsoft Word easily integrates with other Office programs. Copying documents with Word is easy, which makes printing and making copies faster. It has powerful formatting functionality and easy content searching features. Additionally, installing it on your Mac computers is relatively easy. Therefore, whether for business, school, or personal purposes, Microsoft Word for Mac is quintessential, and no big reason should make you assume it. Therefore, installing Microsoft Word for Mac might be the only thing missing on your macOS computer.
Pages for iCloud lets you open, edit, and share your files from a supported browser on a Mac or PC. Check which file formats are compatible with Pages for iCloud. If you don't have an Apple device, learn how to create an Apple ID.

While I suppose helpful to someone switching to Mac from Windows, for me these shortcuts are inconvenient, since they differ from practically every other Mac app, which use, for example, Command-Up to place the cursor at the top of a document.
What we've been doing is using Office 2013 on a PC to run the accessibility check, add alt text, etc - not an ideal solution! I think maybe the only good advice to give for word on mac is the usual: use headings, high contrast colors, templates, etc.
In addition to the new version of Office, Microsoft is also updating its Virtual PC software, which allows Windows programs to run on a Mac, albeit more slowly because the software emulates the PC's x86 processor. Virtual PC 7 adds compatibility with Apple's new G5 processor as well as other features that Microsoft did not disclose.
Among the most significant changes are a new project view, in which Office users can associate groups of items, such as e-mail, contacts, appointments, Office documents and other files; and a new way to take notes within Word. A separate note view within Word has tools for creating, editing and viewing notes, as opposed to formal documents.
Another improvement is a compatibility checker that details which items in a file could cause problems for people using a different version of Office. For example, the compatibility checker might note that a graphic that is rotated 45 degrees might not display properly in older Windows versions.
Otherwise, there are a lot of little improvements: Word gets better formatting options and a navigation pane that makes it easier to find specific spots in long docs. Excel's keyboard shortcuts are now the same between PC and Mac, which will probably save at least a few users some headaches. PowerPoint presentations get more slide transition options. Outlook gets the "conversation view" that lets you organize email chains into threaded conversations, support for external apps, weather information right in the app, Online Archive support, and other minor improvements. 2ff7e9595c
